Default Opinion on air filter...BHAF or AFE

Just want opinions on whether a BHAF with a fabricated heat shield would work as well as a AFE stage 2 cold air filter?

I have a BHAF for right now. I'm thinking about building a heat shield for it. I have to agree with Scott@Alligator, I like the way the S&Bs look on these trucks.

There's a guy selling a used AFE stage 2 for $200. But I was already looking at the BHAF and could get that and make my own heat shield for half the money...just don't know which would give better performance?

I think they will give you the same performance unless you use the factory air tube on the BHAF because they have baffles in them that are supposed to disrupt the air coming in or something like that

I have had both and now run the NAPA 2790 BHAF for the simple fack of how easy it is to install one a year and be done with it............... KISS method

performance is the same..........but you do need a heat schield

Interesting, I see what you mean by the baffles inside the tube they're just in the last 3" or so inside the tube on the filter end...I'm thinking that could be modified somehow. I think if performance is the same or even close to the same I'm leanin toward the BHAF...I found a outerwear prefilter that will fit and with a nice heat shield I think it will look good. Thanks all for you input
