cold starts
had my 02 for 6 years and never had it plugged in. starts everytime...got down to -15 last year for a week straight and still didnt have a problem. a little powerservice in the tank and shes been golden!
97 7.3 PSD started today @ 18 degrees with a single preheat, if it drops another 10 degrees I'll have to plug it in. I don't run fuel additives in this truck.
04 6.0 PSD starts at any temp without being plugged in. I run MC Cetane Boost in this truck.

either last yr or the yr before it was -50 by windchill and a N wind. my truck sat out in the lot at work facing north witht he wind blowing straight into the grill for 10hrs. it turned over a little slow but she fired right up
I dont have the grid heater hooked up on mine and 20* didnt even seem to phase it. Ran a little rough at first, but smoothed right out.
To the OP, you might need new glow plugs. A powerstroke's not ever gonna start as easy as a 12v, but 20* still shouldnt be too bad.
