97 7.3 PSD started today @ 18 degrees with a single preheat, if it drops another 10 degrees I'll have to plug it in. I don't run fuel additives in this truck.
04 6.0 PSD starts at any temp without being plugged in. I run MC Cetane Boost in this truck. |
i think my cold was beginning of this year it got down to around 20 ish at night for about a week

LOL acording to the current forcast (i didnt have a thermostat outside) it was 4*C (39*F) and it was the worst start yet havent had the truck through a winter yet the PO said it loved to be plugged in all year and i see why i might also need new glo plugs tho not sure...but ye ol detroit smoked and threw the truck around for a good 4 mins or so. needless to saw ill have to bring my cord with me next time i leave my truck out when i leave it somewhere cause im to to drive

either last yr or the yr before it was -50 by windchill and a N wind. my truck sat out in the lot at work facing north witht he wind blowing straight into the grill for 10hrs. it turned over a little slow but she fired right up :rocking:

couple years ago -43f not able to plug in so I cycled the grid heater 2x and it did fire up but rough as hell...................i thought the piston were swappin holes or sumpin:scare2:
|
Its been down to single digits this year so far with wind chills even lower and mine has never been plugged in and only takes one heat cycle. :choochoo:
|
I dont have the grid heater hooked up on mine and 20* didnt even seem to phase it. Ran a little rough at first, but smoothed right out.
To the OP, you might need new glow plugs. A powerstroke's not ever gonna start as easy as a 12v, but 20* still shouldnt be too bad. |
In 20's some nights no problem
