Default dumb question but have to know

So I thought our 97 stroker took 15 qts on an oil change, coulda sworn it had in the past. but...I changed the trucks oil yesterday and actually the CPS as well #1876736C91 not sure if that would be relevent. I also changed over to a DELO 5w-40 synthetic, and used the fleetguard LF3974 oil filter. when I filled it up it almost was full at 14 and 1/2 qtz. I was in a hurry and didn't give it a real chance to backfill to give me a more accurate reading. so I assumed and added the extra 1/2 qt to 15 total now. I got home later that evening and low and behold the oil is showing up on the dipstick like its a 1/2 qt high. should I drain a little off? also my dad drove the truck later that day and oil pressure reading is fine between 1/4 and 1/2 on the guage.

15 quarts won't hurt a thing.

Don't be fooled by the oil pressure gauge either....it's a needle on a switch and will only read low if you don't have any oil pressure; <5 psi or so.

FWIW, our trucks hold 15 quarts total (filter, pump and case)

I used to run 2 qts over all the time, but dont now. You can also get a filter that holds 3.5 qts!!! For a total of 17 qts! LOL
