After recently straight piping my truck, i have notice a huge drop in egt's. Previously at idle (with my 5" exhaust with muffler) the lowest egt i would see is 300 degrees after driving. But after straight piping MY egt at idle has dropped to 250 degrees

Then on top of that with the shift kit i had installed, my tranny temperature had dropped about 40 degrees. very cool.

something on the list that people should consider if they are going to be bombing their vehicle

 

Has the weather gotten any cooler as well or no? I know this is kind of stating the obvious, but with the weather here getting down to low 30s I see my truck cools significantly faster than say if the air was 45 or 50 degrees. Odd that such a small difference in ambient air temperature can cause the truck to cool just that much faster...

Oh, and I know we have different engines and whatnot, but I must say, I saw no difference in EGT drop when I straight piped my once muffled 4" turbo back exhaust...

 

I have thought of that, and yes the cooler intake air also drops the egt's significantly, but I have been keeping a close eye on my guages for the past 2 weeks and last week it was a little bit cooler outside...it made a slight difference in egt, but nothing out of the ordinary. But this week on monday I straight piped my truck and I immedietaly noticed a drop in Temp. And for the past few days after I got done driving my egt's have been lower.

And another thing I missed I just noticed today on the way to work, my max boot psi now reached 25, it used to only go up to 24 and a half, but now the needle sits right on 25 psi, so it gave me an extre half lb. Of boost
