7.3 ghost start
swapped motors, everything is connected the way we took it apart. Hook the battery up to it and immediately activates the starter with the key ignition in off position. Any ideas would help, im out of them and very annoyed by this right now.
Thanks

Since both batterys are grounded through the block and the starter is bolted to the block with only a power supply to the starter, could the starter be shorted internally and completeing the circuit throught the block? Just an idea.... let me know what you guys think
maybe. pull the starter and run a ground from a battery to one of the bolt holes. the a positive from a battery to the power stud on the starter. then jus make contact from the pos side of the battery to the small stud on the starter.
it was the small connector on the starter.....electrical taped it up for now, cranks over just like it should but now wont start. checked codes and there were a couple but nothing that shouldnt let it start. Fuel is getting to the filter housing but wont fire. Checked ICP sensor and looks fine and so does the connector and wires.
We cranked for about 10 seconds a time for about 5 minutes in fear of frying the starter. Do you thinkn we need to just simply crank more? It wasnt even huffing white smoke or even popping like it was trying, just cranking...codes i got off it are
P0198 EOT Sensor Circuit High Input
P0472 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input
P1280 ICP Circuit Out of Range Low
p1661 Output Circuit Check Circuit Low Input
P0198 EOT Sensor Circuit High Input
P0472 Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input
P1280 ICP Circuit Out of Range Low
p1661 Output Circuit Check Circuit Low Input
mine did the same thing. my truck had 2 engines but there wasn't one in it. so i had to get the running one in. i killed my batteries 3 time before it even tried to fire. then there was still a ton of air in the lines but it did take a while to get it started.
Watch your oil pressure gauge while cranking. Usually it won't come up for a bit. Then it'll come up and shortly thereafter it'll fire off. If it's not building oil pressure yet then it won't be building ICP either and it won't fire. It does sometimes take awhile to get it to fire on the first start after injectors being out or heads being off.
