Default What to look for in 1997 f250

Hello.

I am not new to diesel but haven’t been around one since the early chev 6.2
any way I am looking at new to me Diesel right now I have my eye on 1997 ford f-250
Crew cab 2 wheel drive with 75,000 miles one owner truck. Is there any problems I should be aware of or look for. I am planning on using the truck to tow a 30 foot camper

Check for oil leaking from the following places.
The oil pan/ common to rust through.
Check in the engine valley/ the back of the high pressure oil pump is common to start leaking.
Exhaust back pressure actuator/ located in the turbo pedistal the actuator is a coomon palce for oil to leak out.
Than if you could I would have it scanned for codes. The truck could have issues with codes stored but no check engine light.

1st gen powerstroke f250's (94 1/2 - 97) came with an I beam front axle which can wear tires like crazy if its in need of ball joints, so look for a 350. if it has a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch, powertrain is probly well worn.
