Default 97 powerstroke issue

My 97 f250 started stalling the other day and cut off in the road and I started it bback and drove home well when I left my cousins who lives right next to me it did it again and wouldn't start and stay running. I switched the relay from the horn and the idm and it started but after I cut it off wouldn't start again. And the horn worked with the idm relay. The fuel pump dosnt make a noise when I turn the switch either. I bought a new fuel pump but decided I was gonna see what you guys thought before I got it dirty and couldn't return it

Do you have an electric fuel pump or Super Duty system? If not, then you won't hear the fuel pump run as it's mechanical and driven off of the camshaft.

The first thing I'd check is data. See what your injection pressure is doing. Check to see if you have an RPM signal to the PCM as well.

Another possibility is your CPS is failing. Have you had it replaced under the Ford recall?

does your tach move when you are cranking?
if not it is probably the cps, they regularly crap out.

check your fuel filter housing, if it is full your fuel pump is probably fine.
