Default truck pops above 2500

i have recently had the timing bumped up and he set it a couple different ways,it ended up being around 22 degrees.i also shimmed the gov. springs and now it sounds like it's popping above 2500 rpm's what is going on here??it is pulling good.

It might possibly be running out of fuel too.

i think just under a load and he said he's sure it's between 22 -25 degrees and its not really a pop as much as a cracking sound or something it's hard to explain i guess it sounds similar to a jake brake????

That's too much to vary... check the timing again could be air in fuel also
