Default Turning Up The Pump And Removing The Fuel Plate

i just bought a 97 12 valve and im wanting to turn the fuel up a little and either remove the fuel plate or move it a little I know if i remove it completely i should have gauges... but can anyone out there tell me where the plate is and where the screw is to turn the fuel up...and when u put it in reverse and go to back up the engine will die . someone said maybe the idle is not set right on the truck.. so i have no idea.. thanks for any help......

I think everyone is referring to the screw on VE pumps... do VPs have one, i'm no good with either of those, i know a little, but wouldn't do it without DIESELBOMBERS right on the screen in front of me... now the P-pump is a whole another story

There is a fuel screw in the VE pump. Fuel plate is your fuel screw on a p-pump. Grinding and sliding gives you more or less fuel. The only difference is that with VE is that you can turn it back down easily. But if you grind your plate your going to have to replace the plate with another to get it back to stock.

there is a full fuel screw on the back of the VE pump as well as a smoke screw on the top with a fuel pin under that. maybe that is where people get the fuel screw idea
