dpf delete
Yes. The DPF does all the muffling in a diesel, the muffler is added by Chrysler to reduce noise that much further.
Buses, Semis and construction equipment with a DPF use no mufflers at all, just to give you an example of how well a DPF muffles.

I removed my dpf and cat, I have a 4" down pipe and 5" ProFlow exhaust, muffler is a straight trough design. I use a Edge Race tuner to eliminate the regen cycle. Great improvement in mpg as well as performance. I used to have a 00, with basically same mods. It was loud, the 08 I have now is far from loud. No noticable difference in the truck, it is a bit louder at the exhaust end.
In stock trim I got 12-14 on the highway 10-12 in regen, towing my 13000lb 5th wheel I got 7-8 on the highway. I did the intake, exhaust and tuner all at the same time. The truck has 4:10 gears and weighs 8700lbs with my wife and I in it. After the mods I get 19-21 highway at 65-70mpg. Towing it's 11-13 depending on where we go, 65mph highway. That's with the tuner set on #1.
Very nice i have been looking at different tuners and still debating on what one to get but that sounds like one to keep my eye on... Also been looking at the blackmaxx does anyone have any info on that one. I like the shift on the fly option.
If you want my honest opinion on a tuner .... I wouldn't have bought the Edge I have. I had an Edge tuner in my 00 F250 and loved it because of it's on the fly tuning. If I had it to do over again I'd buy the H&S Black Maxx. In fact I may still. Problem was when I was looking for mine the Black Maxx wasn't available. I like the transmission tunability of the H&S. Edge has said transmission tuning was coming for mine, but have since released the CTS Race version making the same promise. I bought mine 2 years ago, and still no tranny tune available.
