Istalling pyro in idi turbo
you can put them on your down pipe, I personally put mine on the driver side manifold on number 8 cylinder because you get a more accurate reading on your egt's instead of your down pipe
You want to know the cylinder temperature, so the closer to the exhaust leaving the cylinder, the better. At about 1200*, the pistons will start to melt. The manifold is the best place, but you can put it in an u-pipe as well. I have mine in my u-pipe, a few inches after the exhaust manifold.
One question about this method as I may relocate my probe later on. You remove the u-pipe don't you? I would imagine if you didn't, the shavings would go into the turbo.

hmmmm....i'm not sure how my motor has survived this long then
i've had the temps pretty high while towing 1100 most times....the probe isn't actually in the pipe its in the flange on the turbo itself.....i just swapped a zf 5 spd in it and i know i cannot unbolt the pipe or anything without dropping the trans and cutting up the floor again wich i would rather not do...maybe i'll just install another one

ya banks puts them on the DP. You can just cut the wire if you wish cause the probe is pretty f-in stuck from hot and cold temps. So just buy a new gauge and drill and tap the driver side exhuast manifold and bam your done
