yesterday i finally decided it was time for new tires. went to the tire store n bought 4 kelly trail mark A/T's. they looked nice n have a 40,000 mile warranty. but once i got on the highway they scared the hell outta me. if i get over 55 the truck sways side to side reaaaaalllllyyyy bad. anybody else have any experience with these tires? what the hell should i do? im almost afraid to hook a trailer behind it

pressure is right where its supposed to be, rims are the right width, tires are only 265/75/16's so its not like there's alot of sidewall to sway....

 

try puttin some more air in them. what load range are they?

 

If they're load range "C" be afraid, be very afraid. If they're load range "D" be paranoid.

 

It's not unusual to get some squirm from any new tires for the first thousand miles or so until they wear in. But it sounds like maybe you have more than that going on.

 

Also forgot about the fact that if these have some serious mud tread then they also tend to feel squirmy, so to speak till ya run the tread down some. It's a part of running soft rubber mud tread on pavement. If this is the case, never fear, it won't last long. Pretty shortly they will be bald and the squirmy feeling goes away.

 

i would never put d's on my truck let alone c's. E is all i ever use.

Just pretend you're driving a loose racecar, let the assend hang in the corners. Seriously though I've seen it before with retreads on a service truck when there new and the tread is deep. I bet once you have a couple thousand miles on them they will be feelin fine.

 

it is really fun in my f550 with the new retreads. wiggle around for the first 4-5k. little scary with it weighing 15000 lbs. even better with a trailer on. but it does go away.

 

What pressure do you run?

if they are a lot wider than what you had , it may be road crown , you'll get used to it
