Hey Guy's , I pull various trailer's with varying weight's and would like to keep my bumper height close to the same . I'm considering adding airbag's to the rear axle or replace my mono-overload spring with a heavier multipac any suggestion's ? Tks

 

i would look into the airbags. i just installed firestones setup on my gmc and love it. i got the elcheapo versoin without the compressor. just a schrader valve on the back of the truck to fill them. doesnt take much air to fill em either.

 

^ What he said with one exception. I ran individual lines to the bags. Reason: a single fill line allows transfer of air from one bag to another.
I prefer to maintain equal pressure when turning.

 

i do alot of off road with the truck also. i wanted air to transfer from bag to bag if needed when twisted up. only reason i teed mine together.

 

i run the firestones without a compressor as well and love them. they hold up to heavy loads and my truck feels better than stock when unloaded with 5-10psi in them they act as a rear swaybar in turns. in my past trucks with over load spring packs they worked great with a load but made the empty ride a little rough on the kidneys now with the bags and empty it make those wrap around interstate ramps a lot more fun

 

It will ride better with bags than springs. With 5-10 psi in them unloaded, it won't feel much differant than what you have now. And they are adjustable.

 

OK TKS Guy's . You've all been helpful . In my little mind I thought air bags would be better loaded , with a truckin' back ground air suspension is the cat's azz . I just wondered if empty , spring's might be better as they don't even touch . But I do like the empty stability on the on ramp . I'm leaning toward the bag's . Tks again

 

On this same subject, does anyone have a suggestion on type/brand that has worked the best? I saw Firestone mentioned but not sure if you are talking Firestone Tires or something completely different?

 

I've got Firestone airbags on the rear of my truck aswell, i run them with an onboard compressor and gauge, with switches to inflate/deflate each left and ride side individually. Great setup

 

Firestone makes the airbag set-up . Still looking into other manufacturer's but Firestone seem's to be the most popular.
