hard cold starting issues
Hey Y'all,
My 86 is getting sick but I don't know which direction to go. When it is cold (sits overnight) I turn the key til the glow plug light goes off (usually about 6 seconds) crank it and she normally would crank right up. Now I do the same thing but she takes at least three times of cycling the key like I am trying all over before she fires up and smokes like hell of course. Is it my controller or do I have glowplugs on the fritz? Help me please,I am in the process of moving and I need her desperately!

sounds like plugs. test them with a test light for quick check. hook aligator end of test light to POSITIVE on batt. then remove electrical plug from each glowplug and put test light on where the wire goes. if test light lights, plug should be good.
I replaced the plugs tonight and a couple had the pins dangling so after I replaced them she fired right up and has a lot more grunt now! I'm stoked since my stacks are on the way too!
