Default my custom muffler

so after a few long trips with the donor i came to the conclusion that i need to quiet it down if the mrs is going to be in the truck. i decided to make a muffler and put it in my bed since it will be hidden by my tool box, then the stack can come out of that. i looked at a few designs online then drew up a few ideas on paint. once i figured out which i liked i printed it out and figured out the dimensions for it. i made it 20" x 14" x 5". i was able to get some 1/8" steel plate for free from a friend so thats the route i went.

here's some pics of it as i was going.

with a standard sized tape measure in it

the top piece to close off i cut out where all the pieces were so that i could weld them to the top to make all the sections sealed off.

and here's a quick one of how it sits in the bed

it is SOO much quieter now. i can hear the motor while driving, not just exhaust. and that is with a stack thats about 8" tall and curved a little towards the rear. it will get a full stack once i get enough pipe.

this is what it sounded like before

the videos really dont do the sound difference any justice. also, i know its not the best design for a turbocharged motor but i am going for the most sound reduction and could care less if i lose 30hp.

Great job!...I can hear the difference, the resonance is not as loud as before...I have to ask why you use such a short stack...if you increase the length it will become even quiter
