Soupbowl... Mmmmm...
I did the soupbowl to my 92 the other day... Really didnt notice much of a power gain, or an EGT drop.. Anyone dyno with this mod? By the way, never really paid attention to it, but when I was cutting on the air filter lid, I noticed a threaded valve thing on the top of the lid.. Any idea what that is for?
the threaded port is for ford testing for engine tests. they tap into that, fuel pressure and a bunch of other ports.
as for the soup bowl, nobody really has tested it yet, but it really cant hurt it by taking it off. i always cut mine out as soon as i get the trucks.
this is what gets hooked to it.

On the 6.9 and early 7.3s without turbos, on the lid of the air cleaner was a bowl shaped piece that was supposed to help direct the air(at least that's what i was told). Supposedly cutting it off increases the airflow. I didn't notice any difference when I cut mine off either
Thats because its a noise reducing device only. It doesn't have any affect on airflow.
