My truck died after I put the pedal to the floor
Well I had a problem with my airdog fuel pump a couple of months ago that left my truck stranded but I got that fixed. I think it may have damaged my vp though in the process. I pulled out of a stop sign and it was fine then I put it to the floor and it just flat out died. I checked the fuse and it's fine but when I go to start it I can tell the pump ran dry but I can hear the airdog kick on. If I crank it long enough it will start but it sounds like it's just enough to keep it idling but it's rough as hell and no throtle response.
I know, I know about the gauge but I really haven't had the money for it. I guess the damage was done when my airdog went out on me before.
I rented a scan tool and it came up with P1688 so I'm guessing I'm SOL. Its strange that my truck just died with any hesitations before this. I drove about 30 miles then I pulled out from a stop sign and it was fine but 10 seconds later when I put it to the floor it just died.
I cracked the injector lines and fuel was coming out when I bumped the key but when the truck did start it barely ran.

Time for a new VP44 I'm afraid...
Don't know. If you have a later model '01, you may have the same issue I had with the VP44 on my '02 on which the bearing sleeve seized up. I hear it was a common problem with them...
