I'd go with an 06 and early 07 stay away from the DPF trucks. They have the stronger bottom end. the tranny is beefed up and has the sixth gear opened up.

01-04 have there injector problems. the 04.5-05 have over heating problem the 06-07 have weak pistons. 07.5 and up have the DPF emissions stuff on them.

I have an 05 getting as high as 25 MGP with just a few mods. Stock I was getting 19-20 and 14-15 pulling a trailer.

With my LLY i could get 20ish mpg on a good criusing day with my chip in economy. It averaged about 18 with the chip before the lift. i average about 15 with the lift kit now. I think i posted it more detailed someplace in the LLY forum not too long ago.
