Default biggest tire on a dually

i know its been talked about. sorry but i can't find it anywhere. i want to put 285 70 17's on my c/c dully. i have air bags on it also. how much of a spacer will i need to clear the air bags and how big a spacer between the wheels.

All i know is i have 35x12.50 mudgrapplers on my dually with 2" spacers. my buddy has 285x70 on his with 1.5" spacers and they dont rub.

BFG is making the KM2 in a LT255/80R17/E. That works out to about a 33" tall tire, no spacers needed.

Know quite A few guys up here that run 285/70's on trucks that carry some weight. Like welding rigs and service boxes. No spacers. Not sure how much wheel well clearance you lose with your air bags. So they may be A issue. Also alot depends on the rating of the tire you want to put on the lower the ply rating the greater your sidewall flex will be. I am running 265 right now and they are about A half inch apart on the bulge. So basic answer is 265/70's if you want to be safe. 285/70's if you aren't too worried about picking up rocks between and rubbing the sidewall out. I was goin with the 285's personally. But come on A deal I couldn't pass up on the 265's. Good luck.

i was thinking the same thing about the air bags. i might take them off and just put some more springs in. i already have 4 285's on my other truck and i was just going to pick up 2 more. all i run is E-10 ply . i do carry some weight most of the time. i'll have to see about a 1/2" spacer and see how it works out. i was thinking of a spacer in side to keep the air bags but i don't want to have to change the studs. i'm trying to keep the coasts down. you know how it is. if it winds up caosting to much i'll just pick up a new set of the same size i have now. i only need a few hunder RPM to be able to run 75mph at 2k rpm. when ever i'm out west and get above 2k my mpg drops by as much as 3-4mpg

I was running 37x12.50x17 on my dually before i put the lift kit. In order to do so I had to put a 3" level kit on the front to clear for turning. The rear had a spacer coming off the hubb that was 1/4" thick to keep tires off the spring and then a 2" spacer between tires that allowed about a 1/2" clearance between tires.
