I just bought this truck from an auction not running got it home put 2 batteries out of a running daily driver 05 ram 3500 5.9 cummins and it sounds like it is locked up or a bad starter. I have a 2006 ram 3500 Donor truck with engine, computer, whole truck with all wiring can I use anything to fix the 08 ram 3500 6.7 engine if it is the engine? See if any of the accessories move (alternator, fan, idler pulley) when the starter engages. If not, bad engine.

 

when you turn the key does the starter tick or just engage and not. if it just ticks then try arcing the starter connections. if nothing happens then its the motor

 

I would try to turn the motor over maually and see if it turns. If it does then the starter contacts could just be bad or the starter is bad. Hopefully it is not the motor.
