Default kdp fixed

I wasnt sure where to put this but would like to say THANK YOU. Did my kdp, had my timing cover welded. Truck is stock because I dont know anybody that could help if I messed something up. But after being on this site nearly every night and searching thru this forum I got enough courage to tackle taking the timing gear cover off and all that is involved, after having a bad oil leak for about 6 years. Thanks What bomb to do first

Excellent. Did you bump your timing when you had your cover off?

Lots of easy things to do on these engines. I would be driving a stock truck too if it wasn't for this site. DB rocks!

No, I didnt want to press my luck all at once.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Dustys24--- I had been looking at glow shift 3 in 1 gauges but have seen some bad reviews about glow shift.

Don't bother with Glowshift, they look good but they are inaccurate. I won a set from DB and use them but they aren't that great. Save your $$$$$$ and get Autometers or Issopros.

I just got done doing this to mine as well... Only I did mess with it a bit while I was in there.

Drove the KDP back in the bore and staked the hole. Re-torqued the other bolts holding the case cover in place -- most were just finger tight. Bumped the timing 6 degrees. Added a #10 fuel plate (at stock location). Turbo boost orfice. Skid the AFC cover forward. Added 3000 GSK. Removed the fuel heater plug, siliconed the hole (for now until I can get a strainer kit and remove the entire heater element). Did some cleaning, lubing, and painting.

Entire new truck now. Starts almost instantly (instead of having to crank for 30-60 seconds, even when warm). Almost scared me the first time I started it up after doing the work. I expected that I'd have to crank it some, and it fired at light speed! Rather snotty attitude on the road also!

Still have to do the gauge install (got the 3 gauge pillar and have a pyro on the way -- next paycheck the rest), then the torque converter and valve body kit (TST), the 4" exhaust, new boot on the solenoid (also doing a potted capacitor on the starter right away) and BHAF and I'm set for now.

Discovered that several (almost all) of my injectors are leaking externally somewhere. May as well replace with a set of SDX or DDP 40-50 hp units. That should be about it for this ride. Just a tow rig.

Only issue is that I lost all my gauges (speedo and tach) plus the lights are dimming sort of funny at times. I'm thinking that the crank sensor is not right somehow. I measured it carefully with a feeler gauge, but it is either not plugged in right or not reading (unless something else causes those symptoms).
