Default How do I disassemble this landing gear?

Mom's horse trailer has a "48000 Binkley Holland" mechanical landing gear on it. Something in it is seized or stuck.

There's only five pieces to it that I can see but it's got me stumped. Inside of the bungs on either side are "nuts" of some kind that have flats for a wrench, and I can turn them around and around but they don't go anywhere. (You can see where I've mangled them up with locking pliers.)

I don't see how I can take it apart to look at it. It looks to me like I have to break the welds on the bungs to take the horizontal shaft out? Then the worm gear or whatever should pull out the top?

Thanks for any help.

The horizontal gear is splined onto the horizontal shaft with a little metal pill of some kind that is pressed into the shaft. On the left hand side in the second picture, on the near side of the shaft you can see the pill.

Around the pill is a heavy metal ring with a notch cut in it to clear the pill; on the left side of the pill and it's metal ring is a ring that looks like a snap-ring only doesn't have a gap in it.

So I can't go to the right with the rod because the horizontal gear hits the vertical gear, and I can't go to the left because the not-a-snap-ring hits the pill. If I could get the pill out somehow I could get it apart...

try this out begle it has the parts layout for your jack SAF-HOLLAND USA > Service > Literature > Landing Gear and then at the bottom of the page click on parts manual and then almost on the bottom of the page is your parts list for your jack

So I like to use tampons on occasion, big deal. I fail to see what that has to do with disassembling a worm gear.
