55 Chevy Duramax transplant- Need help!
hi im new here. want to pick all of your brains. i built a prostreet 55 chevy pick-up and decided to put a duramax in it. i bought a 08 lmm with allison brand new it was for a box truck or something so the oil pan is backwards, fuel filter on driverside, and trans mount is on bell housing. i want to remove all egr, any ideas? what to do with throttle body manifold? aftermarket ecu that gets rid of emissions and adds boost? Aftermarket TCU for better shifts? what do i for intercooler, transcooler, and radiator. if any one can help please let me know. and what do i shift tranny with? push button or linkage? After removing all the EGR do they make an aftermarket throttle body plenum? I plan on putting headers on.
Everything you want to do souldn't be a problem. A factory ecm will work or get a stand alone unit. All the tuning can be done wth EFI Live. You can take the egr stuff and tune it out. You can also tune the trans with it also. You will probibly need to build the trans.
Theres a few ways you can remove the egr, replace the up pipes, or by some headers.
Theres a few places that make the wiring u need to make it all happen, u will need a drive by wire pedal also.

How much power are you looking to make?
Your answer may influence what would work best as a tuner for you and also what options would make the most sense for improving transmission performance.

Trans Go shift kit I'd say, for just a little bit more holding power. For tuning, You could run just about anything... PPE makes good stuff, there's also Bully Dog, Edge, Quadzilla. I'm not sure about the EGR and DPF stuff though, I haven't had to deal with any of that.
standalone ecm and tcm and efi live is all that you would need, theres tons of tuner out there. PPE can give you all the wiring you need but it aint cheap, atomized engineering is also a good company that does standalone pcm's and wiring.
destroked d com does make some harnesses to drop in an alison tranny into anything and have a tcm.

i have both factory harnesses. wish i had diagram as to what things r called on a duramax and a wiring diagram would help.

somebody said that since my motor is for kike a kodiak that the manifolds on it flow better? so i can probably take off the up pipe to egr cooler thing and just tig weld a patch on it. turbo down tube doesn't appear to b crunched in the middle like a pick-up diesel? can i get a new intake tube where the egr motor or whatever it is bolts to?

The up pipes on the kodiak flow better, thats where most of the gain is seen when upgrading the exhaust.
you can use a block off plate on the intake. What part of the wiring diagram do you need i have access to alldata i can find some for you

shoult i just remove the egr up pipe and weld a patch in? and then just put a ppe y bridge in to eliminate emissions crap? really need the engine harness diagrams. i plan on using lmm computers with efi live. where do i get a drive by wire pedal?
