99' 7.3L PSD Loss of Power Issue
Driving down the interstate Sunday afternoon 70mph, I gave it a little more gas and my turbo whistle really increased when I heard this sound that sounded like a loud release compressed air. I backed off immediately and then my turbo quit making the whistling sound. From then on, I had no real power even when I tried to punch it. I drove another 5 miles like this and my oil pressure and engine temp was ok and the truck seemed to be ok as far as the way it sounded, and didn't see any smoke. To me it seems I might have a turbo problem but I'm engine stupid. The ole truck has 232k miles on it. If anyone has any suggestions or diagnosis I sure would appreciate it. So far everytime I have had an issue with the truck, someone on here knows what it is. Thanks for your time!
Im having the exact same problem! And its also rather humerous this thread is here because I searched for a forum to find an answer to this problem. My truck has 189k and has done this on and off since about 175k now its become constant and all I can think of is maybe a turbo system failure, Im also pretty sure my cat is clogged.

You blew a turbo boot... Check the boots from the turbo to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the Y pipe, and both under the Y pipe.
Its there, you just have to find the boot that is blown.
Once you find the boot, remove it completely, clean it with soap and water and reinstall.

The EBPV is on the outlet of the turbo, you can see the rod that closes it on the bottom of the turbo outlet and that goes into the turbo pedistal.
Try this, look at the bottom front of the turbo pedistal (thing the turbo bolts too) and on the front there you will see a plug, unplug it and see if your issue goes away.
Hello Everyone. When I drove the truck it felt like there was lack of fuel. I have a f350 01 7.3l. I started my truck in the morning and the service light came on. There was no codes. Looked under the hood and everything looked good. So I decided to open the valve cover. The wire connection was apart, that goes to the injectors. Please check that before taking to the dealer. They will tell you that you need New Injector or its a sensor.
