Default Friend's tranny

ok I got a friend who just bought an adrenaline for his 03 6.0 with an auto. I told him hes gonna need some trans work and I was just wonderin what exactly would work well for the least amount of money. I was thinkin like a VB and a TC but I need to know where and what kind. I think the adrenaline he got is like a 180+hp unit or somethin like that.

thanks in advance

I would say it all depends what he gonna do with the truck
I had the adrenaline with pulse on my 99 and never upgraded it but I wasn`t towing or hauling anything too heavy too often

I also never had the chance to turn it up to the limits but would have if certain people in nc had more brains

if he can keep it under level 6 or so and isn`t driving like he stole it he should be okay but if he is gonna play when it get put on definately time to do some upgrades to the tranny

well since he got it he drives it like he stole it. it already is slippin in just the second setting through almost all the gears. I dont think he is going to put anything else on it for awhile I was just wondering what exactly he should do to his tranny.

He just tows maybe like 5-10k lbs and 10 is pushin what he actually tows. He likes to just goof off with his truck and he needs a tranny upgrade in the worst way. I feel like he is going to tear somethin up soon.

There really is no VB upgrades. Its a solenoid body and the only way to upgrade it is with tuning. As for the converter, yes there are some improvments in that department, but if its already slipping nothing short of a rebuild will fix that. Tuning may stop the slipping but not the damage already done.
Next item - the 03-04 5R110 has an inferior planetary design and MUST be changed to the latest design during rebuild to avoid catastrophic damage later.

I don't know anything about the Adrenaline, we don't sell them. I do know that on ALL of the 6.0's we work on, we use SCT with custom tuning. Either the Tuner or the Live Wire.

Sct is the only way to go!

He shouldn't need to upgrade a 5R110 with just a tuner... though running the Edge isn't going to help at all.

Sell it and put the SCT on with custom tunes, the tranny will thank him.

Like already said, if the damage is done already though... The stock torque converter in these trucks is very good. The tuning is what kills the trucks fast (bad tuning, like generic tuners, banks, bullydog, edge, and the likes) Get the SCT on there and see how it is...
