So Who Knows The Answer To This Question?
ok here is the problem. i have a very large boulder in my driveway that i want gone. i have a med size old backhoe but it can not move it. i have tried a 110v jackhammer , pounding it with a sledge hammer , driving a steel wedge into a crack , air chissel and nothing seems to work...then i was thinking about the rocks around my fire pit how they are all cracking from the heat of the bonfires...if i get a torpeido heater and heat the rock up super hot and they dump a cooler of ice water or hit it with a co2 fire ext. do yas thing it would break it?.....or do you have another way to break it?
I don't think heating it would be feasible....I would try drilling it and use maybe gunpowder and a fuse and blast it apart. That would be more fun than a heater or jackhammer....:j:
Can you not winch it up on a trailer?

yeah if that thing's even slightly porous and you heat it/cool it like that you're gonna have one hell of an explosion and in the need for 6 pall bearers. if it's that big and that heavy you got issue for sure. maybe use backhoe to dig a pit and then dig under the rock so it falls in the pit. cover it up and be done.
How big is this rock anyway? How tall is it?
When i say blast it, i aint talking about using a suitcase full of C4 and sending pieces of it into orbit... just a small explosion in the drilled out center can fracture it where it will seperate.
Park your Dodge between it and the house when you light it off...

but you have to put the nose towards the rock so's the ramhead will fend off the debri.
....but it may be worth a try....
