Default o/d while pulling a load

anyone got any weight specks on pulling a load of when not to use o/d? is it 2000lb,3000lb? i know that useing o/d while pulling a load will fry a auto tranny. i guess i just need to go get a tranny temp guage.

how often you pull also plays a very big roll. I tow my fifth wheel in OD havent had a problem yet and it has 100k plus on it, but I am guessing ive only towed a few thousand miles. Whoever had the truck before me towed too, hence the gooseneck hitch.

There is nothing wrong with towing in OD. As long as your not lugging it. Your auto tranny is smarter then most people give it credit. If it starts hunting for gears time to shift out of OD.
