ATS 5 vs 3 clutch TC?
Am looking at my next buy and have heard about the ATS 5 clutch TC but I saw they also offer the 3 clutch. My usual way of thinking is that more is better, and I know they really push the 5 disk but will a 3 disk get the job done for cheaper?
I've been looking at these brands as well, just wondering if it offers an advantage(5 vs3) or if it's just another choice out there? I remember hearing a similiar argument about single vs 3 disc converters. It was said that a properly built billet single was as good as a triple and more efficient because it required less pressure to apply 1 clutch or something to that effect, it's been a long time ago and I know that triple is now considered the norm. I'm only trying to get ahead of the long list of things I dream of doing to better my truck and make it a stand out, and the trans has been neglected up to this point, even though it keeps me from enjoying the few things I've managed to do so far. If I could even get 400 to 500 hp over stock and have the tranny to deal with it I could be grinning every time I left the light.
I have a 5 disk in one truck and a 4 disk in the other. Both work great. I had a single disk once and drove threw it at around 400 horse.
If I was buying another I would go to goerend for it. I don't know them but I have never seen one bad writeup about them in the 8 or so years wondering around on these dodge sights. They seem to have a reputation that stands as high as any.
