5.9cummins smoking problem
Hello, first post here, thanks for having me to your site....
I have a boat with twin 5.9L 6Bcummins engines.370HP Mech fuel injection/turbocharged..
Last season i blew a motor, and over the winter purchased 2 brand new longs blocks, not rebuilt brand new castings and all.
Installed in the boat got them running, dressed with all my acceseries (injector pump, turbo, exh ect....)
One runs fine, a lil lazy but fine, the other smokes bad!! I MEAN BAD!! I know thats its smoke from fuel, this has been confirmed.
I thought it was due to the turbos, maybe some internal oil leak going out exhaust perhaps, after switching turbos many times, the problem proceeds.
I pulled the injector pumps and am currently having them gone threw locally here (Massachusetts), the guy said they were actually set differantly one for a 315HP, the other for a 356HP (which i learned is the same as the 370HP). i'm told the timing requirements is 24*. My question is... is this timing, 24*, set into the actuall injector pump? Or.. do i install the pump with the #1 piston @24* BTDC?
If you need any other information for me to provide for you to get some better answers, let me know. Thanks a bunch in advanced!
