i have an 01 duramax. its getting on up there in its age and id love to be able to start over with a new truck. this will be no time soon but im pretty interested in having a truck built. im wanting to know around how much a built motor would cost. id like one to handle 600-700 HP. basically, i want a motor to daily drive but not have to worry about bending rods, breakin somethin, etc. when i take it out and dog it.

 

Well if you will contact D-stroked.com you will find that they offer conversion kits to put a 12 valve cummins in your model Chevy. if you dont wanta go that route then a good built motor will run you about 15 to 20 grand. if you dont want to go with new rods you can Cryo treat your stockers and they will be much stronger and more riggid. but id look into the first option its much cheaper about 7 to 10 grand including engine. and for all the mods you have on the existing engine you could easily make a dependable 550 to 600 hp!! and it will bolt up to your very much dependable Allison!

 

depends on what you want to do with it really, you can swap lbz rods and delip your stock pistons, new bearings and maybe a cam and it wont be so much if you do the work yourself.
