Default Will performance chips ruin the ECM??

I have an 02 5.9...just replaced the ECM at 210k miles...the Dodge mechanic that flashed it said that the reason it failed was the Diablo Power Puc that I had installed in it a year ago. Have any of you heard this same story or is it simply a matter of age related failure of the ECM?? Doc

Doubtful - If anything, the chip will cause injector pump problems if you do not supply it with enough fuel.

Your ECM was just probably due for replacement, JMO.

Agree, sounds more age related (8 years old).

unless the power puck dead shorted itself back to the ECM(which is unlikely), it most likely did not affect the life of the ECM. Dodge dealers and their service departments just dont like working on anything that has an aftermarket part on it especially a chip or a box so they 'll tell you its the chip to get you to take it off. I actually had one try and tell my brother that the FASS system is what caused his radiator to crack and that they woudnt work on it until he took it off.

gotta love it when some of the tech's that work at garages think that everyone that walks off the street are just as ignorant as the secretaries at the front desk... that made my day guy it's equally aggrevating when you show more intellect than they have and they still talk to you like your stupid even if a vehicle was under warranty idk if i'd trust some of the people around here

There is a sign that says ( If the vehicle you are working on please bang the customer in the a@@ and we will give you a gift card to walmart) if there is a aftermarket part on the vehicle.
