Ok guys, i know there was a thread on here before about a tc lockup switch on the 3rd gens but i cant find it. Ive got an '03 S.O. with the 47RE. Just put a billet tranny in it and im ready for a lockup switch. Anybody have a writeup on it?

Well, the S.O. 03s like mine still have the 47 RE but the electronics are different. Ive done them on older ones and you end up just grounding out a specific wire. I found a writeup on the newer ones a year or two ago and did it to a buddys '05. It required putting a resistor in the line also, cant remember what size or exactly where

I'll crawl under my truck later today and see what color wire you splice into.

Or should I say the pin #.

Awesome, i appreciate it. I was looking at the 47re mystery switch but everything ive found is for a second gen with the 47re since theres not many 3rd gens with one. I figured since the electronics were probably the same as a 3rd gen 48re it would be the same as one of them. Its my understanding that on the 3rd gens the only diff between the 47 and 48 is the 47 has aluminum planetaries and the 48 has steel.

Is there somewhere that has a good proven way to do this to the 48re tranny? I have tried searching but not much luck.

Thanks, Austin

Yes, tap the wire for pin #7 on the transmission control harness. Pin #'s are on the plug.

Run the wire to one side SPST switch.

Run the other side of the switch to a chassis ground, and, in the this leg place a 33 ohm 1/2 watt resistor.

Done, now you have a switch that will lock the TC in 2nd, 3rd, and OD on demand.

Couple of things to know about this though, much less than WOT and it will stack shift into OD.

No down shift from whatever the top gear is.

WILL break input shaft if not careful.
