SPST switch? I understand the concept and do have a fully built tranny but the one thing I hate about the dodge trannys is that it does not fully "grab" I guess you can say at WOT. Although, as soon as I hit 75-80mph racing the TC locks up and it starts hauling ***.
Also, where is a good place to put the switch?

As far as where to put the switch, anywhere handy for you to operate it if you want it.
Additional information for those with a 48RE:
If you tap the wire on pin 6 in the same manner, you will lock the trans in 4th gear... That's handy information for those looking to load their truck on the Dyno...

You don't need to lock it into OD. Locking the TC will automatically lock the trans into OD unless you purposely modify the VB to defeat that.

I am going to try that this weekend!
So after splicing into the wire, do you run straight to the switch, then on the way back put the resistor in place there? Im not cocmpletly electricly enhanced yet sorry.
and when you say ground it, ground the #7 wire? If so then how does the switch work?

I just got done doing the mod. Took about 45 minutes total to do everything. I did hook it up with a momentary switch but now I am thinking of getting a regular on-off switch.
Also, the mod works great! I would not recomend doing this on a stock tranny though unless you have no extra added power. I can see exactly how you could snap input shafts doing this mod. I could deffinatly tell it made the truck somewhat faster
I am going to do a 0-60 run with the edge later and let yall know what exactly happens!

I respectfully disagree. If that were the case, the switch would be useless in any gear but overdrive, which it isn't. It will lock the TC in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and does not prevent downshifting if you floor it.

Exactly, this is really one of the coolest/cheapest mods. I don't know if a stock TC and input shaft can handle it but with a built trans it really is a blast to drive around! I have been screwing around with it off and on all day. Its cool that you can lock the TC in first and manually shift it(dumping black smoke if wanted). All-in-all this is the best mod that can be done for less than $10!

Nope, it won't allow a downshift out of OD with TC locked. The VB is setup to lockout downshifts with TC locked to prevent damage to the input.
The TCC solenoid opens a port that dumps enough TV pressure to keep the downshift from happening, and, its pressurizes the backside of the OD solenoid so it cannot release OD in lockup.
OD is computer controlled so the typical hydrualic shift actions are locked out until the ECU determnes OD is not needed. You can see this when you lock the TC at part throttle operations. It will stack shift right into OD unless you have almost WOT.
The switch is essentially useless in any gear but the top one unless the VB is modded to get rid of the OEM operations and a TCC controller added.

Cuz I have 2 trucks that with a stock VB and a lockup switch would NOT lock in first and have done several others that would not lock.
One of my trucks with a shift kit will lock in all gears, the other won't lock in first. The FSM details show that first gear pressurizes the lockup switch so it CANNOT lock in first unless you modify that behaviour.
