Default 6.4 Problems.

Well this all started last month. We hitched up our 15k Weekend warrior and headed towards Oregon with a convoy of about 4 other 7.3's all towing trailer. After a big climb we pulled over to let them cool down and one of the guys noticed that we lost the tread on one of our tires so I get out of the truck and I hear this loud Tick Tick Tick Tick. WTF is that I think to my self. I can't hear it inside the truck so I put in the back of my mind. So fast foward 2 more hours and were just cruising down the free way and on the dash it says to pull over at the next safe place so we stop at a stop sign and it dies So we have to have a 6.0 come down 2 hours to get the trailer and finally the truck starts and it goes the next 2 hours with out a hitch. So it takes them a week to decide that it needs a new short block and it takes them about a month to put it in. So fast forward to Saturday night when we pick it up. I idled it for about an hour on high idle and I noticed a fuel leak so bring it back Monday and they fix it. Tuesday i noticed an oil leak and the A/C don't work so I bring it back and they keep it till Thursday. So Thursday I go it get it and I see oil leaking from the joint between the Dp and the Cat So he says that he needs to pull the cab to check it So I get a call at 9 today saying that I won't get it back till Tuesday but I need to be back in California for school on Tuesday so we have to go all the way back down tomorrow and come back up on Thursday. He says that I am getting new turbos, DPF/CAT EGR system and possible new heads.
I will keep every one posted on what happens,
Nick

Sounds like a hanging open injector maybe caused a meltdown.

The "Pull Over Safely" notice comes on when the 3rd EGT sensor reads out of range, and forces the truck into Failure Management Effects Mode.

Did they find a root cause the first time? Or just see "Motor's hooped, needs a shortblock!"

PM me your VIN, I would like to see exactly what they're doing.
