Default Traction Bar Mounting

I am building a set of traction bars, and my first thought was to get longer U-Bolts and make a plate to bolt on the bottom there. Seems like a good idea, but I dont have the time now.

What is everyones thoughts on welding the tabs right to the axle tub?

Theres nothing wrong with welding them right on, just alternate your welds so not to heat the axle too much in one spot. here is a build thread for a set on a 3rd Gen.

Hey guys I got the bars finished finially, just have to mount them tomorrow. Just one more question, when I go to mount them should I have them at the short position so I can extend them when loaded?

My hiem joints only have about 2-2.5" of thread and my jam nuts are about 3/4" thick. If I go in the middle I woulnt have too much adjestment left. Ideas?

I welded my tabs to the bottom of the plate on the axle. You know, where the u-bolts go through on the bottom.

I was thinking that at first too, but I ended up making some clips for them to bolt on.
