#100 plate? will it hurt my drivability or mpg?
ALright i got the truck in my sig, its got the 12v 4x4 5 speed. stock other than guages and a boost elbow. I was looking at the #100 plate but i dont want it to hurt the drivability or the mileage when im just normaly driving. How does the plate act normal driving? and how does it act under a heavy foot? thank you. ALso since i want to keep my mpg's should i leave it in the stock location or bump it forward a little?
depends on your driving style and the preload set on your AFC. No, it shouldnt affect your fuel consumption if you cruise around.... but if you are in the throttle all the time, yes, it will decrease dramatically. I would try slightly forward and go from there
It will only toast it if i am hard on it right? I mean i dont drive like a maniac or do boosted launches or try to pull stumps out.. i just drive it normally. How much power could a #100 plate make? with no other power adders other than the boost elbow? im thinkin it will only make around 275 rwhp with it but i dont know..
i had no drop in mpg with mine full forward! and ya you will notice a huge power increase over stock!!! not sure on number. oh and you will get more smoke with the plate too just so you know. good luck and injoy!
Thats not necessarily true. It depends on how you have it set and how you drive it. Had a #100 in my auto for a few years and its still going strong.
Might toast it if i were to abuse my clutch with it. But i baby my truck most of the time i guess if i start makin to much power for my clutch i will upgrade but i just cant see a simple litle plate could walk over my clutch it holds real good right now..
Most people cannot keep from hot rodding their truck after doing an upgrade that can increase
the horse power and torque capabilities. If you can keep from doing this then yes your stock will last, but if you do decide to do some hot rodding especially with the plate full forward the stock clutch will probably need to be upgraded.

alright where do you gus recomend i put the plate? should i just put it in the stock locaion or move it forward or what? any help would be apreciated...i dont want all out power or anything just better than stock with of coarse the good mpg still..

There is no comparison that can be made with a 98 automatic trucks pump and a 98 5spd trucks pump.With the 5 spd being rated at 215 and the auto at 180 there is a huge difference in what the "100" plate will do for both.
Since we are asking specfically I will explain this a bit for you...
The 100 is a cross between a 0 and a 10 plate.In the 5spd(215hp)pump the 10 will net you 330hp/750tq.However to attain the same in the auto you would need a 4 plate which TST does not even offer anymore and when it was available it was a competition only plate.So for your automatic to have the same pop as a 5spd 215hp truck with a 100 plate you would effectively have to use a 104.The 4 is very elsuive and not made anymore as most when they get to this point just run plateless.
So your automatic should have lived a longer life with a 100 as its not a very aggressive plate in your truck.The 215hp 5 spd truck with a 100 plate WILL hurt the clutch if its stock as all it will take is one slip and its done.After that first slip it may still be driven for a while but it will never handle a load again.Thats a t-shirt I already have had many moons ago.......Andy
