Well you all convinced me to start running 2stroke oil in my dodge ,But i have not seen which brand you prefer or what ratings i need to look for, I bought some KLOTZ at a motorcycle shop says it mixes with gas and nitromethane and alcohol hope i don't screw up my air dog our anything else, Please advise me Thanks Again

What he said!!! It's recommended by Mopar1973Man to use TCW3/ashless burning 2 stroke oil. Every brand and container of 2 stroke I've seen in the last 3 years has been rated TCW3 or ashless burning. So IMHO, nowadays, it doesn't matter what brand or 2 stroke oil that you buy.

On a side note, the moniker "TCW3" stands for " Two Cycle Watercooled". I'm assuming the 3 stands for the 3rd generation/formulation/mandation of these oils to meet government regs. Let me pose this for all you 2 strokers to see if this makes sense to y'all................I've got a 50HP Evinrude on my boat. Outboard motors use the water that they are operating in to cool the engine unlike air cooled weedwackers and chainsaws and some lawnmowers. This leads me to think that they run a bit "cooler" than the aircooled versions. Hence, they need an oil that burns without deposits/ashless at cooler than "normal" temperatures. Am I making sense???? Do y'all see where I'm going with this????

I'm truly sorry, but I don't believe for an instant those folks that claimed that 2 stroke oil "gummed up" their injectors, or caused injector knock. Especially if they "work" their Cummins at all. The EGT's would be too high IMHO to form deposits. Again, see where I'm going with this?????? Any replies are welcome!!!

 

You are correct, that's the benefit of the low/ashless formulations. Ours is the HP injector oil.

Well gang... I've got 99K miles head for 100K miles on this VP44 and there is no sign of MPG or HP/TQ loss and it still going storng. Like Dorkweed I've been using Wal-Mart SuperTech 2 Cycle Oil for 3 years heading for 4 years. No issues, problems, or complaints from me... My MPG float around 20-24 MPG...

So if something was to go wrong with using 2 cycle oil it would of happened by now and my MPG would fall into the toilet... Nope... Still strong and still going!

 

well i have never ran any 2 stroke oil in my truck, whats the ratio? and does it really make a difference?? i would love to give it a shot, anyone willing to help me out??

 

Any ASHLESS 2 cycle oil will work. Most of todays major brand names are ASHLESS. Like the most commonly used 2 cycle oil is SuperTech Outboard 2 Cycle Oil.

As for ratio for the 1st and 2nd Gen is 128:1 ratio. Basically 1 oz of oil for every 1 gallon of fuel. For 3rd Gens its 200:1 ratio. Anything less than that doesn't give enough lubrication.

As for VP44's mine is only got 300 miles till it hits 100K miles. I'm pulling 21-23 MPG and no problems.

Notes:

• Don't mix 2 cycle oil with cetane boosters, injector cleaners, or anti-gels this tend to reduce its ablity to lubricate. If you worried about injecotr stay clean upgrade you filter to 2 micron...
• Don't guess at mixing always measure out you dose to prevent over dosing and under dosing...
