Default F150 CONVERSION--

hey guys i just signed up for the site because this i was reading this thread that is perfect for what im trying to do but its an old one and no one responded to it so im gonna make a new one. i have a 1994 F150 with a 4.9 and something happen the computer because i have no radio, no speedometer,no odometer, and the shift points for the trans are all screwed up. so i figured im young im mechanically inclined so why not put a diesel in it. i can get my hands on a 7.3 for practically nothing and i was going to do it, but i wanted to do some last minute research and thank god i did.everyone is telling me to go with the 3.9 cummins but im not sure what i should do-- what do you think i should do powertrain wise?

the 7.3 would be sweet but its gonna take some time and a whole lot of money and not sure how the fitting would be...so in short the easiest way would be the 3.9 Cummins

I have the same rig 4.9 5spd was going to go with the 4bt one out of a bread/chip van with the ford chassie would be an almost direct bolt in,cause the vans came with the 4.9 factory then converted in the 80s to diesel. Cost got in the way,my truck still going strong(if it aint broke dont fix it) so am going another route,om617 in a cherokee.Good luck fyi there is a build on utube,a truck just like ours.Just plug in 4bt in f150 in the search

if you are going with a diesel i highly recomend a SAS, as the extra weight from the diesel will stretch that silly cross beam front suspension into pieces
