I use it
I just heard a presentation on a survey done of diesel fuels across Amercia. The one thing you can count on is no two stations are the same. The fuels vary quite a bit in quality. Today's hwy fuel is the ULSD which requires 15ppm or less of sulfur in the fuel. On average, they are actually 1-2ppm. This is very low for lubricity. Now on the flip side, many stations now have some percentage of biodiesel which adds some of that lubricity back.
It's hard to tell who has biodiesel and who doesn't. It's not required to be marked on the tank for 5% or less. From 6-20%, it just has to say it contains bio but does not have to say percentage. Anything over 20 will be labeled as such.
Cetane levels also vary quite a bit. 40 is the lower limit all fuels are suppose to meet, but this survey found it can range from 40-60 at various pumps. 50 is the desirable level for most efficent burning.
All this variation makes a good case for treating the fuel we put in our tanks. I use it in every tank along with the diesel concentrate and I try to buy from the same station as much as possible so I have some consistancy.
If interested in the amsoil products and don't have a source, we can get it to you at wholesale.
Sorry I went a little beyond your question, I was on a role.
