Default Running slower after mods

A buddy of mine at work has an 03 Jetta TDI that we cant figure out what the deal is. He took his car to the track, pre-mods and ran a 15.xx, now with mods he ran a 16.6. He is getting traction and not missing shifts, driving same as before mods. His mods are VNT-17 turbo, 502 injectors, ecu tuning from Kerma, free flow intake, straight pipe, light machine work, rebuilt tranny and Southbend clutch. Why would the car be running slower now?

the power band has shifted and maybe he is not launching at the correct RPMS and shifting to late or too early.

Teach him about preloading the car too.

Go dyno the car to see what the power and powerband is now.
