Default New 6.7 ECM updates

Dodge has been doing there homework on the 6.7's here is what the new update will do.
The latest ECM software includes a new extended idle feature to accommodate the
extended idle times present in some duty cycles. This feature may help to reduce the
accumulation of soot in the exhaust aftertreatment system when the engine is idling for
an extended period of time. Briefly how this feature works. As needed, the engine enters an idling mode which dramatically reduces the rate of soot accumulation in the diesel particulate filter (called “Net Zero”). Further, under extended idle periods of **5 minutes or longer**, the engine enters a mode which reduces the amount of soot accumulated in the diesel particulate filter (called “Net Reduction”). While in these modes, the idle speed increases to 900 RPM for a period of time. The idle speed may return to normal idle speed and then return to 900 RPM to repeat this cycle during very long idle periods. These modes occur automatically depending on the need to regenerate the DPF as long as the vehicle is not driven over 20 MPH or operated at high load. If the vehicle is driven over 20 MPH normal mobile desoot will occur automatically.

I know that dodge is working on a new updates that come with software, that if the customer installs a programer on the vehilce the vehicle will not start and will set a check engine light. Just for the heads up..

I've been hearing the same thing about the tattle tale shut down.. Do you by chance know what flash that is going to be weaseled in with? My truck is at AR currently, and if that is true.. then it looks like mine isn't going to get any more flashes from them til somebody figures out a way around that.
I've also heard that sometime in the '09 model year that the ECMs will come with the tattle tale already in them.
Thanks for the heads up.
JB

Yeah no kidding on the emissions causing all the problems with these trucks.
I think that the programer shut down in is these new updates that were juse released.
they are the AS and BA updates. From what i know they only programer that will by pass this is the smarty because it uses the programing from dodge vehicles and the computer doesnt even know that the programe is there..

I'll second that. With the exception of a couple of recalls, like the G-30 for the 02 sensor module, and the recall on the hood silencer pad, the only time my truck has had to go to the shop has been emissions related. EGR Bypass valve has been replaced, forced regens, having the EGR cooler cleaned, etc. When I had the turbo drilled and cleaned, the tech at the shop told me mine was the dirtiest turbo he'd seen yet.. I don't let mine idle, I don't lug it, and although I don't abuse it, I don't baby mine either.
If you would, let us know when and if you find out for sure which flash has the programmer shutdown update.

the dealer said they mite have to drill and tap my turbo also...but between the housings on the top side is a little plug, its kinda behind the oil line...maybe 1/8" pipe thread...they say they have to drill and tap it, why? theres already a damn place there..i think its just another way for them to get people to bring the truck to them, so they get more money...i argued with a dealer about it..

I'm not sure about the fitting that you're talking about, but if you want, I can take a pic of where they drilled and tapped mine. It requires a special fixture that clamps onto the turbo. It has a drill bushing inside of the fixture that makes sure the drill and tap go in the housing square. I was a bit leery of them doing mine too, but I haven't had any problems with it since it was done. Not to mention if it poops the turbo.. then you get a new one anyway..
If you do have them do yours, make sure to get them to take the EGR cooler off and clean it while they're at it. You'll notice a world of difference if yours was as dirty inside as mine was.
