I dont know much about ford powerstrokes, other than that the 7.3 is presumably the best. Anyways I have a buddy who wants to get about 400 horse in his 1995 powerstroke, whats the easiest and cheapest way to do this? Its got nothing done to it right now. It has a manual trans so advice on clutch choice would also help. Thanks.

Thats what i was thinking for clutches. I know 400 hp is pretty doable but from what ive heard unless you upgrade rods dont go over 500 on some year models, but i cant remember what models those are.

 

Garret Turbo they are a drop in. Trans upgrades needed for sure. some bigger sticks.

 

Yeah i was thinking ddp for sticks but if anyone has any other suggestions. Im open to all suggestions right now just trying to get an idea of whats best for this particular application. Hes a high school student so a 400hp truck would put a hurtin on most peoples rigs in high school, except those spoiled rich kids...

 

The turbo is the weak link. Hit up Diesel Innovations or Beans Diesel. They have the drop in Garet you need. It's a GT3778R I think is what it is. You don't need a Turbo kit or whatever. It supports up to 500 horse. I think anywhere up the 350 sticks will be good for that range.

 

What about upgrading the oil pump to a high pressure more volume unit? I know that has a lot to do with the injector function

 

It does when your trying to go north of 500 don't quote me on that I'm not the best Powerstroke guy in here. I know you can run the 350's without a Pump Upgrade. Beans has the Stealth pump which is nice price and runs good if he wanted one.

 

Oh ok. Thats good to know. I forgot its already got a 6.0L intercooler we just got to fab up the plumbing. Is beans a pretty good powerstroke guy?
