which t-case to use
recently i swapped a 90 6bt into a 94 1500 4x4. the donor truck was 2wd with a 727. i want to go to a overdrive trans, so i was thinking about the 518,. I know the 46rh is probably better but i dont want to have to buy an adapter flex plate and starter. so using the 518 i need a different t-case because the differential is on the left side in the 94. will a nv241 bolt up to the 518? thanx
In the 1st gens the 518's had new process tcases behind them. The 47RH's and NV4500's have 241's. You might be able to bolt up a 241 to the 518 as long as it tis the round bolt pattern tcase adaptor on the 518.
He might be able to get an adaptor to use a ford NP205 LH drop but I wouldn't. The NP205 is no way stronger than a 241LD. Maybe equal in strength. The out put shafts in the 205's do not like diesel type torque. I have broken a few and the billet replacements are built to order and they know how to charge for them if you know what I mean. LOL
i wouldnt use a 205. either throw a 241dhd in it, a 271 with customization or a damn near bullet proof dana 300 they are a gear driven cast iron case, similar to a np205.

really no diverence in the two, np= new process, nv=new venture. np is the correct term but alot of guys call them nv241dhd
