cummins in a chevy
ok guys this is my question. i have a line on a 95+ chevy 3/4ton diesel 4x4, 5spd. i know this has an nv4500 though i think the trans is junk anyway. my buddy has a cumminswth a 2wd 727tf for sale. how much work am i looking at to swap this into the chevy?
not too much not anymore than swapping it into a ford.

well this is what i want to use.......the cummins, a 5spd and the chevy transfer case. though looking on ebay the gm and dodges appear to have the same rear adapters. and forgive me folks this is my first diesel build

is it possible to just change the input to a dodge and get a dodge belhouse and use gm clutches with a dodge flywheel?

The engine adapters are not the same. You can use a dodge cummins engine plate, a dodge cummins bell housing for the NV4500, use a dodge flywheel and a dodge clutch. You will have to change the input shaft and a kit can be located at Auto World. Really it isn't that bad. You can usually find the dodge parts used and it will save you some money so you don't have to buy the chevy plate. Because either way you have to get the dodge style flywheel and clutch.
i have 2 trucks with blown engines 1 is a 92 gmc with a blown 6.5 the 2nd is a 92 ford with a 7.3 that blew both are 2 wheel drives with sticks thinking of putting cummins in both but found a 6.2 for the gmc still undecided what to do with the ford any help would be nice
