got a 07 lbz and am lookin into a chip for my truck as soon as i get rid of my cap. I looked at the bully dog PMT and the banks 6 point... liked the PMT bc i would be able to download new programs off the computer, but i didnt read anyhting about that for the 6 point... any info on these two chips or any other chip would be great!

thanks guys... JIM

If you want plug and play get a PPE Programmer if you want custom tunes get EFI Live.

Actually on the PPE Hot +2 you can get over 300 extra ponies IIRC.. Yes, EFI and PPE both hook into the OBDII port.

Just always keep in the back of your mind, that adding power isnt cheap.. and it doesnt just cost the price of the programmer.. you WILL have to get an upgraded Transmission if you spend alot of time at Wide Open Throttle on any tune over about 90 hp..

EFI Live is hands down the BEST programmer you can get for any GM vehicle.. no questions asked.. But you can really mess alot of stuff up if you arent careful. Most vendors that sell EFI Live, also can hook you up with a custom tune for your truck and YOUR application.

As far as off the shelf, plug and play programmers go, PPE is the best.

Well, none of the programmer companies are gonna tell you that.. There are a few things you can do to help prolong your trans. PPE for instance, has a defuel feature. What that does is defuels your motor when the trans shifts.. it HELPS keep from smoking your trans.

There are some people that run over 500 rwhp on a stock trans with a Transgo Jr. and a different converter.. so it IS possible.. but how long it will last is the big unknown.. its a gamble.

Having a fast diesel truck is ANYTHING but cheap..

Besides, a good built trans is only around $4000.00

You would be surprised how quickly the $4k "built" trans can/will slip & limp as well (speaking from experience). I run EFI Live now and have heard nothing but great things about PPE as well. Both make a ton of power and both can easily smoke a stock trans in a hurry. If you truely want to save your stock trans run a tuner module that monitors transmission slippage and cuts power when it sees it (to save you from yourself). I started out with a Banks 6 Gun and it does a great job keeping the trans safe.

banks is great for a good safe all around in line box. you still are going to have to build that trans one day if you want more!! Im a big big fan of PPE but I agree that the PPE hot+2 E.T. Eliminator programmer is way to hot for a stock trans and the hot +2 for a 06-08 425 hp AT THE CRANK!! you can buy the ppe the economy Xcelerator 40,90,and 160 tunes thats not a bad way go. if you want to do it yourself dont be scared to grad the EFI live or hp tuners you need to have a general idea about your motor and how it functions and it will take you alot of time to get efficient with custom tuning

I agree with all these guys, I love my PPE but I never put it on the highest level because I do not need that much extra and I definitely do not want to do upgrades to my tranny.
