The prodigy is the best controllor on the market for anywhere near the money. As long as your truck came with the tow package, which almost all of these truck did you just buy the plug with the controllor. Cost about an extra $5-$8 and it just plugs right in to the socket under you knee bolster. Most new trailers all come with the RV hook up on them now so I would suggest just going there. Keep in mind that if you go with the most number of wires, as in the 7 pole RV hookup it's easy to use adapters to hook up 4 or 6 pole trailers. If you go the other way, from 4 or 6 on the truck to a 7 way trailer you run into problems here and there.

Sorry, misread your post once I went back and looked at it. I am recommending the blade style connector. That's what most new trailers come with and it gives more contact area to get better connection with.

I'd have to agree on the Prodigy. I've had some of the less expensive ones in the past, and they're fine, but I can really tell the difference in those and Prodigy.

As long as it's got the tow package, it should be there.
