Default No More Cheap Diesel From Mexico For The US

From the Houston Chronicle

MEXICO CITY — Authorities in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Acuna have started a program to discourage Americans from crossing the border to fill up extra drum, tanks or barrels with subsidized Mexican diesel fuel.

The city government says it has fined Americans in four cases and would impound their vehicles until they pay the fines. Ciudad Acuna is located across the border from Del Rio, Texas.

That has angered some truckers and drivers in Mexican communities who say the run on filling stations has sometimes caused temporary shortages or longer lines.

But dont seem to bother them when they come over here and take our work.

Even so, I think that customs entering the US must be paid for fuel over 120 gallons or so, if the truck gets checked. (And probably would have to be hazmat approved, too.)

That is if the US Agencies at the border were doing their job ... you can't tell me that 4 55 gallon drums full of diesel weighing down a 3/4 ton pickup can't be spotted???

Well if you can hide 4 55 gallon barrels that can't be spotted by the Border agents standing at your window as you drive across the border, then I guess they won't be able to spot say a ton of weed, or 14 undocumented foreign nationals...

We are in sad shape.
