Do 1st gen Dodge 1/2 tons have the same engine mount location a 1st gen 3/4ton Dodge diesel? if not could it be made to fit in a 1/2 ton chassis?

 

the diesel mounts are different........you better plan on changing your rearend, transmission and front suspension.....so pretty much find a 1st gen dodge with a cummins and junk body and swap your body onto it.......

 

What about a 4bt Swap in there?

 

yeah 4bt would be your best bet, a 6bt would be way to heavy for the 1/2 ton suspension with out some major tweakin

 

im buyin a D250 with a cummins. i hate 2wds and love my truck. Id swap engine, trans, and rear end. buy a 6" diesel lift with new front springs. buy a good used front 3/4 ton axle and transfer case. no 4 cylinder, diesel or not . i have a mazda with a 4 cylinder, my truck doesnt need one.

 

trust me man.....swapping frames is easier than trying to fabricate everything........and your going to need a front dana 60 not a 44 cause the 44 wont hold the weight......you are going to redo the steering, new spring hangers, you can use a floater 205 chevy or dodge case but when it comes down to it......its alot easier to use a good 2wd body o na good 4x4 frame......ive dealt with alot of 4x4's and i sell 4x4 parts.....your looking at ALOT of work.......

 

my 1/2 ton is 4X4. the Cummins is 2wd. but hey, $2500 for a Dodge Cummins aint bad where i come from. Its either that OR convert the cummins into a 4wd.
