Default transmission swap question:

Hi, I have a transmission swap question: I have a 97 4wd 12 valve donor truck with a recently rebuilt automatic transmission that is going to provide the engine for my 68 Dodge, two-wheel drive crew cab project.
I also have an '02 3/4 ton, 2wd work truck that has a Cummins and a 6-speed. Half the people who work for me can't drive it because they've never been taught how to drive a manual transmission. So I was thinking I would take the six speed and put it on the 97 12 valve for my '68 Dodge, and take the automatic from the '97 and swap it into the '02. I'd have to convert it from a four-wheel drive transmission to a two-wheel drive transmission. Is this doable? What is involved in swapping transmissions between 97 and 02/ automatic and manual? Thanks, Joel
